About nudes Throughout history, the nude has been a subject of predilection for artists of different civilizations. Both in painting and in sculpture, the nude was represented predominantly because of its rich mythologies, legends and literary creation. In spite of some religious views regarding the subject, the nude, representing grace, beauty, and harmony, by its nature, was and remains one of the universal inspirations of Fine Arts. Using a range of techniques and means of expression, the artist, looking inevitably for centuries, has created the nude with new and original forms, full of invention and sometimes unusual attitudes. For me, the nude is a major subject full of mystery, and excitement, which denotes a cosmic dimension. Mask and nude, with symbolic interpretation and inspired from nature, is a matchless inspiration that I breathe every time when I approach this subject. MARCO Montess |
